We offer an outdoor kitchen experience with stocked stove, BBQ and outdoor fridge. If you opt to cook or grill, you can clean your dishes outside using the hose in a portable sink/bin - or you can leave the cleaning up to us. Gain access to the backyard through the front side gate. Your methodically cleaned room is equipped with a sound machine (you are sharing close quarters within a thin-walled home); a comfortable queen size bed, desk, overhead fan, and a sofa/futon. The single sink bathroom has a tub/shower, and shelves for storage. You’ll find extra pillows, terrycloth robes, sheets, covers, beach and bathroom towels in the walk-in-closet or under the bed’s drawers. The sofa/futon is surprisingly comfy as a bed, though please note that when it’s open, space is somewhat constricted. Much of what you'll need for cooking and eating is stored in the closet or under the BBQ. For your caffeine fix we have a variety of options to enjoy: a single capacity Keurig with coffee, an electric kettle (various teas) a French press, a Cuban/Spanish “cafetera”, and a microwave, and small toaster. Your room opens onto the pool near your private BBQ, outdoor fridge, and picnic table. I draw my living room curtains closed for yours and my privacy. Laundry possible (washer & dryer) when available for a $15 fee per load. Complimentary parking is right in front of the gated wooden side entrance. There is also parking available on pebbled side path in front of the house. Upon arrival, follow the path leading to the backyard and unlock the french doors to your room. Since your room is attached to the house, we have equipped it with a sound machine for your convenience. We strive to render a "private cottage experience" as much as possible despite the occasional sounds or elevated voices of any given household. We hope you enjoy the back yard as your own! Many of our guests enjoy using the BBQ, and relaxing by the pool. We strive to be accessible and sociable while respecting our guests' option for privacy. We are happy to provide tips on how to best experience Miami and South Florida in general. Coconut Grove, one of Miami's oldest and most beloved neighborhoods, is known for its bohemian-laid back-artsy-flavor, and lush tropical foliage. Our road separates Coconut Grove from Coral Gables which puts us in the area of South Coral Gables as well. We love to bike or stroll through our beautiful neighborhood. Nature lovers will enjoy nearby Fairchild Gardens; and the walking/ jogging/ bike path to Matheson hammock and the Coral Gables waterway at a 45 minute walk or 10 minute drive from our home. For your information, we have included some of our favorite places in a "Casa Mia" folder. There is a bus stop on Le Jeune about 200 feet from our house, and another further down on Ingraham Hwy all in walking distance. The metro rail is not too far to walk if you must - unless it's in the heat of the summer/ at which point your water bottle should never leave your side! The Grove freebie is a fun mode of transportation too. Also, Uber and/or Lyft are convenient and reliable transportation alternatives. We are about ten minutes away from the University of Miami during normal traffic hours, and centrally located between choice neighborhoods. Around the corner from our house you can enjoy the lovely Merry Christmas Park. There are many great walking and biking areas in our location. At the corner of Le Jeune and US1 "The Pump & Munch” is a great little 24 hour convenience store that serves delicious sandwiches. There is a Publix 2.5 miles up Le Jeune, and another in South Miami, as well as Whole Foods. Also Milam's closer to the center of Coconut Grove off US1 is very convenient. (URL HIDDEN) The Kampong on Ingraham Hwy is in walking distance; The Barnacle Historic State Park across from Greenstreet Cafe on Main Highway ; Fairchild Garden is worth biking or driving or even walking to on Old Cutler.
