The Little River is a natural habitat of Manatees, fishes and tropical birds and faces our lush garden, a peaceful gem for squirrels, ducks and parrots. The tranquility of this place is extraordinary and invites our guests to unwind and relax. The home is situated in a quiet and safe neighborhood - distant from the noise of the city. Hence the beaches and downtown are just 15 min away, restaurants, bars and a great food court are in walkable distance.
The sunny, spacious and fully equipped kitchen has a modern quartz center countertop for dining (and work), a stove, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, toaster, coffee maker and cabinets for storage.
The terrace with outdoor sitting furnitures faces an evergreen garden which hosts birds, parrots, turtles, squirrels, raccoons, ducks and iguanas. The river is just a few steps away. This is truly a sanctuary fountain for peace, calmness and energy.
The property is enclosed by impressive palm trees and the river to the north and a gorgeous 250 year old Banyu tree to the south. There's always a fresh breeze coming from the river. A little park just steps away from the property allows for observing the natural river habitat. With some luck you can see giant Manatees swimming in the river.
Along the river there's a small public park with tables and benches (100 feet from the house). You can also walk from the apartment to the lively food market 'The Citadel' which has a nice roof top terrace and live music once a week. From here you have a great view over the Oakland Grove neighborhood and the Little River paradise. Next to 'The Citadel' there are many good restaurants and bars, a gelateria with home made ice cream, a coffee/breakfast place with fresh juices, a nail salon and a fitness studio (Primal Fit Miami). All the shops and businesses are in walkable distance from the apartment.
Here are some fun things to do and places to see in Miami:
I recommend to visit the restaurant Rusty Pelican before sunset. From here you have the most beautiful view of downtown at sunset. Another nice location is the restaurant The Deck at Island Gardens. I also love the authentic cuban bar and restaurant Sugarcane in Midtown. Please check my Miami guidebook for more cool places.
South Beach is just 20 minutes away and probably the most famous beach in Miami. South Beach is the place to party, people-watch, check out music, and hang out with the celebrities. The most vibrant section is on Ocean Drive, where it intersects between 5th and 15th streets. Besides clubs, bars, and restaurants, South Beach is also known for its well-preserved Art Deco architecture, and vibrant art scene, with art galleries abound and artists experimenting with new ways of expression. South beach has tons of restaurants, and some of them are fantastic. However, before you go, always make sure to check Yelp and read reviews because many restaurants use bait-and-switch tactics to rip off unknowing customers, and be sure to always ask for prices before ordering something.
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens — The picturesque estate and its beautiful gardens has very well been kept alive and open to the public. To get there, just hop on the Metrorail and go one station south towards Vizcaya Station.
Zoo Miami — The only tropical zoo in the continental USA!
Miami Seaquarium — Dolphins, sharks, and manatees, oh my! Don’t miss the killer whales!
Jungle Island — This is a fun zoological park. It is located between Miami and Miami Beach.
Everglades National Park– March is the best time to see alligators, cranes, and turtles in their natural habitat, and expect to see a lot of it here. The best place to view nature at its finest is on the Anhinga Trail, a series of boardwalks that take you through and above the swamp. It’s about a 40 minute drive outside of Miami. It may be a bit of a drive away, but it’s worth seeing.
Little Havana/Calle Ocho — stroll down 8th Street (locally known as Calle Ocho, like in Pitbull’s song) and experience the charm of America’s oldest and largest Cuban community. Some restaurants to check out: La Carreta and Versailles. If hole-in-the-wall dining is your thing, I highly recommend El Nuevo Siglo to dine. It’s a local supermarket but with a cafeteria inside. The food is awesome and they give you tons of food, and it’s cheap. One of our favorite places to go after dinner is Azucar, a popular Cuban ice cream place that serves up some delicious homemade ice cream of unique flavors, like Abuela Maria (guava pastry ice cream), mantecado (Cuban vanilla), flan, sangria, avocado, toasted marshmallow, and cafe con leche-flavored ice cream.
Bayside — a combination of outdoor entertainment, open-air market, and indoor mall, Bayside is a fun place to go. Not only is it a shopper’s paradise, it also offers fine restaurants and live music almost every night, by the water. To get there, hop on the free Metromover and take it to Bayfront Park Station, which is a very beautiful park worth spending time at. Bayside is just up the street from Bayfront Park.
Lincoln Road — This is an outdoor pedestrian street with some of Miami Beach’s best shopping.
Much better and less expensive is window shopping in the Design District. It’s worth it! Shoes for $3000... and much more.
Love the arts? Wynwood by day and at the area turns into a hot nightlife party.
Mary Brickell Village — Located in the heart of Brickell, this area is a great place to shop, eat, and play. On Sundays, many restaurants here offer brunch, and an arts and crafts market is set up. By night, several restaurants in Mary Brickell Village have live music.
This is a private home and personal belongings are inside this apartment.
The health and safety of our guests is our number one concern. We've additional cleaning and disinfecting procedures between each guest. We have plenty of soap, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, towels etc. available.
Prospective guests are informed about important allergies concerns regarding animals in our home. For this reason unfortunately we don’t allow dogs in the apartment.
Also we don't like to see our guests to smoke inside the apartment. Weapons are not allowed on the property. Quiet time after 11pm. Guests must be 25 years old, minors must be accompanied by adults.
The house has a central heating/cooling system for all apartments. The temperature is set at a constant temperature of 72 F. Due to the extreme humidity in Miami the house needs to be constantly dehumidified. This can only be reached at the preset thermostat setting and guests are asked to not change it.
